Southern Maryland Outpatient Behavioral Health Services

Substance Use and Mental Health Services for Adults & Adolescents

We understand that not everyone seeking help with addiction or mental health issues is looking for an intensive inpatient program. At Walden, our outpatient services are here to serve the emerging or ongoing needs that arise when managing a mental health concern. We accept individuals currently enrolled in our drug addiction treatment programs who have a co-occurring mental health concern into our Mental Health program.

Our outpatient services include:

We offer both daytime and evening appointments. Treatment can be as general or intensive as needed. Call us at (301) 327-2555 for more details.

What To Expect From Outpatient Care

Walden is a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accredited treatment service provider, and we offer a full continuum of care.

We believe in the power of help for today, hope for tomorrow, and our continuum of care has been helping people thrive on their recovery journeys for more than 40 years.

When you choose outpatient services, your care will depend on the level of service you need. Our levels of care adhere to standards set by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR):

  • Patients who need level 1 services will attend 1 hour-long group session each week for approximately 12 weeks, check in with their counselors once a month, and review their treatment plan goals within 90 days.
  • Patients who need level 2.1 services will attend group sessions 4 times a week for a total of 9 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks. They will meet with their counselor twice a month and review their treatment plan goals within 30 days.
  • Patients who need level 2.5 services will attend group sessions 4 times a week for a total of 20 hours each week for approximately 2 weeks. They will meet with their counselor and review their treatment plan goals weekly.

*Depending on their progress, patients at all ASAM levels of care will also need to submit urinalysis weekly or monthly.

Our licensed psychiatric nurse practitioners provide medication-assisted therapy (MAT) and psychiatric medication management for clients with co-occurring disorders. Our therapy groups are safe, respectful places where you can heal and grow. We even accept all Maryland Medicaid plans and a variety of commercial insurances, so the outpatient care you need is always accessible.

Hours and services may look slightly different at each of our locations, but you can count on the same quality of care whenever you seek treatment with Walden.
